We’re here …

At EventShaper we’ve no doubt shared exactly the same emotions as everybody else over the last few weeks – confusion, sadness, fear and vulnerability.  We’ve had to quickly change our ways of working, and we’ve done that in a way that means you won’t see any difference in how we carry out our activities day to day.

As a Board member of the EIA (Events Industry Alliance) and Vice Chair of ESSA, Lou is actively working to get the very best possible outcome for all members of our industry from this situation.  In addition, within EventShaper we will be using this unique time to continue working on our understanding of efficiencies that we can gain during build and break periods, which will help with our Autumn schedule.

We will all be going through our own unique set of circumstances and we won’t pretend to know all of those, but what we can do is understand and support you where you need it.   As Shapers we have always been proud of our ability to adapt to changing situations quickly, innovatively and professionally, whilst never forgetting the individual.  We will always work that way and even though everything’s changed, nothing’s changed in that regard, and we will get through this with you and each other.

Ops Foundation Launch

We’re so excited to share with you our latest news! Lou Kiwanuka, EventShaper Founder, has launched a unique training programme specifically designed for the exhibition operation professional.

Taking place on 29 June – 2 July 2020 at ExCeL London, The Operations Foundation Course will offer junior operations staff the opportunity to learn the essentials of the trade.

The Operations Foundation Course will be a springboard for junior operations staff to learn the practical aspects of the exhibition operational job function in order to become resilient and professional, whilst allowing them to adapt to the changing landscape of our industry.

Places will be limited, giving attendees the opportunity to learn from experts in each field. Students will be guided through all technical aspects, tapping into Lou’s 24 years of operational experience.

This first course will be delivered with the support of five suppliers – Agility, Aztec Event Services, Creative Hire, Daclus Woodworks and ExCeL London.

This programme will be part of The Ops Nest – a collection of training programmes that will occur throughout the year aimed at driving efficiencies within the events community. Stay tuned for more news in the coming months!

Blue Monday – 20th January??

Not for us!  We arrived in the office to find our lovely Operations Managers, Lucy and Tabs, had beaten us to it and left each of us a bowlful of blue goodies,  a gorgeous rose and a lovely poem to make sure the day was “blue” in a perfect way.  Certainly did the trick, we were a happy bunch of Shapers all day!

Welcome To The Shaper Family Jo

We are thrilled to welcome Jo to the Shaper family. After working with us for 6 weeks in the summer, she has decided to join us as our full time Office Manager to keep us all in line! I hope you will join us in welcoming her to the team.





It’s build-up day at the NEC in Birmingham in preparation for MODA, the UK’s leading fashion trade event showcasing a selection of womenswear, accessories and footwear.

This is EventShaper’s second time doing the show with ITE and we are looking forward to MODA being just as, if not more successful than the February show!


We are very excited to be onsite for our first show of our Autumn season! Anna & Tabitha are onsite for the Jacket Required build up opening 24th– 25th July. This is EventShaper’s second time doing this show with ITE and with its roots in East London, Jacket Required features the leading brands from across the globe, and will  host an inspiring, international line-up of contemporary menswear and selected womenswear across apparel, footwear, accessories and lifestyle product over two floors at The Old Truman Brewery, London.

EventShaper are pleased to introduce our newest team member, Bethany Granby. Bethany has joined us from previously working in Hotel Events and will be learning the Operations Assistant role. We hope that you will join us in welcoming her to the team and the exciting world of exhibitions!


For EventShaper’s Summer Do, The SuperShapers decided to turn their 90’s dream of doing The Crystal Maze into a reality! We ran around madly, shouting ourselves hoarse, completing all sorts of tricky challenges and finishing up in some lovely satin bomber jackets. Dreams really do come true!


When at Work, we may come across lots of challenging behaviour, if that is onsite or in office. You can’t always control the other person’s behaviour, but you can control your response to it.

We bring our Spring season to a close this year with an exciting new launch show, Festival of Work. The show will run 12-13th June at Olympia London.

The CIPD show brings together two CIPD eventsthe Learning and Development and HR Software and Recruitment shows and looks to add a brand-new dimension, The Future of Work. 

We love a challenge of a new show and our team are looking forward to seeing the final product of everyone’s efforts.

This week saw Lowri joining our team as an Operations Assistant. After studying Events Management at the University of Chester and a years placement at a Meeting & Events company, she is up for the challenge of developing her event organisation skills as well as learning new ones. Welcome to the team Lowri!



Another SuperShaper has joined the team this week! Helen Ericson has filled the newly created position of Head of Operations within our team. Helen’s responsibility will be to manage and develop the Operations Team and to be involved within the client liaison. She is joining us with a lot of experience in her previous role and we are really excited about her joining the EventShaper family.


For our second to last show of our Spring season, we are at the NEC for edie.Live and Utility Week Live which is open 21st– 22nd May, building on the success of 2018 and providing insight and intelligence to making businesses more sustainable. Exhibitors range from energy retailers, gas and electricity network operators, water companies, water and wastewater companies, and water retailers. With over 25 exciting features and a great team, we are looking forward to working with Faversham House again this year!


Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet people are still afraid to talk about it. The nature of our industry means we work long hours, for long periods of time away from home which can decrease our mental state. If you go through a period of poor mental health, especially onsite, you may find that the feelings you are dealing with become difficult, or even impossible to cope with.

This week’s Mental Health Awareness Week is all about bringing together a conversation about mental health and looking out for others in need. Whether that’s through making someone a cup of tea to improve their day or asking someone twice how they are, since sometimes we say we’re fine when we’re not. 

On each show that we are the Operations Team on in 2019, there will be Mental Health posters within the Organisers’ Office to raise awareness of Mental Health as we believe that by having our voice heard within the industry means that we can initiate change and improve people’s mental state.

The SuperShapers have branched out, this time, into Essex! We’re very excited to announce that EventShaper now have a satellite office based in Brentwood where a few members of our team have started working from as well as at ShaperHQ in Sussex!

The rest of the team are looking forward to visiting and we are sure a few of you will have the pleasure in visiting also!


As one show ends, another one begins! We are excited to be onsite for our first Stationery Show this week held at the Business Design Centre with our lovely client Ocean Media. Who doesn’t love a show about Stationery and the written word?

The trade show opens tomorrow and is considered to be a two-day stationery and gift extravaganza showcasing something for everyone! The show has been running since 2011 and we are looking forward to being part of the Stationery Show journey!

Time for the final Spring Baby & Toddler Show, and we’re at the SEC Glasgow for this one with the Ocean Media team! Dani & Frankie travelled up to Glasgow yesterday in preparation for the build-up and the show opening on Friday 26th April.

After such a successful launch show last year, we are excited to get all the expectant mums, dads and parents of Scotland to this show again!

EventShaper are back from a busy week of shows! Our lovely Lucy & Phoebe had the pleasure of being at The Rai in Amsterdam for the Plastics Recycling Show Europe trade show bringing to light the focal points of plastics recycling in Europe. Dani & Frankie oversaw the 5th successful Vape Jam, Europe’s premier Electronic Cigarette and E-Liquid Trade Show and Tabitha & Becky were excited to be back at Sandown Park with Ocean Media for the Spring Baby & Toddler Show in the South-East. Another lot of great shows, a big well done to everyone involved! Onto the next one!

Getting Ready For Sign & Digital

We are loading up to go to Sign & Digital – the UK’s leading visual communication event and the place to see the latest developments from across the signage, print, display, decor and design sectors, open 2nd – 4th April at the NEC. This is one of our logistically more challenging shows and the 3-day onsite build-up reflects this.

Sadly, this will be the last show our lovely Pamela will oversee before leaving the SuperShaper team to move on to pastures new. So a final ‘good luck’ to Pamela; we’re sure you’ll make it a good one!



Could our team love Greg James any more..?!

It’s been an exciting week this week for some of our SuperShapers!

Dani, Anna, Tabitha have been on the Greg James Breakfast Show on Radio One taking part in Yesterday’s Quiz.

Some classic answers so far…”Fred…Doris” being one of our favourite answers to what Angela Merkel’s name was!! Plus both Nancy and Mr Buttons have had mentions too.

It’s Pamela’s go tomorrow, so tune in to Radio 1 at 7.15am to listen to how well she does. So far Anna and Tabitha are drawing with 9 correct answers…can the Pamela beat that? The fight is on to win the certificate.


We also have a team at Olympia London for the Music & Drama Education Expo which runs 6th-7th March 2019.

This show is always a busy one which requires carefully choreographed delivery of beautiful musical instruments that we love listening to over the show’s duration.

We’re off to MODA!

Our team have left in eagerness today for the build of another first show for us. MODA is the UK’s leading fashion trade event and is being held at the the NEC in Birmingham from the 17th – 19th February.

Our First Show of The Season!

We are so excited to be onsite for our first show of the season! To add to the excitement, it is for our new client ITE Exhibitions.

Jacket Required opens tomorrow and is a premium fashion trade show open exclusively to buyers and members of the press. It will host an inspiring, international line-up of contemporary menswear and selected womenswear across apparel, footwear, accessories and lifestyle product over two floors at The Old Truman Brewery, London.

Sending all the team working on the show the first ‘Good Luck’ on the show.

Helping Local Families In Need

This year EventShaper have decided to donate regularly to The Hygiene Bank, a charity that collects new, unused and in-date hygiene essentials, beauty and personal care products and then donates these to families in need.

At every show we are the Ops Team on in 2019, there will be a box for collections in the onsite office for any donations anyone would like to give. We will then drop these to the nearest Hygiene Bank, for families in that area.

We are also making regular collections at our office, so if you’re coming to visit us it would be great if you could bring a bottle (of shampoo or shower gel!).

We hope you join us in helping reduce the impact of hygiene poverty for families this year.


2019 is upon us and we are all raring to go for what is looking like a full and exciting year for the EventShaper Team. We are looking forward to working with you all in the year ahead, whether its for the first time or the 100th time.

We’ve Bagged 2 New Shows!

We are excited to announce we have 2 new shows with our new client ITE Exhibitions.

In January 2019 we are the Ops Team on Jacket Required, the premium fashion trade show in London being held at the Old Truman Brewery. Then in February 2019 we are off to the Birmingham NEC to be the Ops Team on MODA, the UK’s leading fashion trade event.

Planning is already well underway for these shows and our team is really enjoying getting to know the ITE team.

It’s Our Last Show of 2018!

We bring our Autumn season to a close this year with a brilliant new show to us, the Smart Buildings Show. The show will run 7-8th November at The Barbican, London.

We always love the challenge of a new show and this one is no different. Our team are already on site for build-up and are excited to see the end product of everyone’s efforts.

Frankie’s Back!

We are thrilled to announce that the lovely Frankie is back with us! After finishing her degree last year she has decided that she can’t live without the Shaper Team in her life and the world of exhibition planning.

She will coming back in as an Operations Assistant, working with Dani on a portfolio of shows.

Our First Flooring Show

We are currently in Harrogate for The Flooring Show.

This is the first time we have managed the ops for this show, which has a 56 year history! It’s considered to be the flooring industry’s flagship event and we are honoured to become part of it’s illustrious history.

Aztec Training Day

Here at EventShaper we love the opportunity to learn something new or expand on our existing knowledge. So when Aztec Events Services invited us on one of their Tech Days #schooloftech, we jumped at the chance.

The day allowed us to learn more about the services Aztec can offer and the information we need to supply to get the best out of an AV supplier. The team had a go at the ‘tech test’ all potential Aztec recruits have to complete as part of their application process – its harder than it looks!! The whole day was really helpful and got our technical and creative brains working.

Becky’s Been With Us For A Year!

A year ago this week, the lovely Becky joined the EventShaper Team as Trainee Operations Assistant. She joined us straight from doing her A-levels to learn Ops Management from the ‘ground-up’ and a year on she is no longer considered a trainee!

It’s been quite a year for Becky, having been Ops Assistant on 7 shows this year already – with another 3 to go. And next year brings even greater challenges and opportunities as she will be running 2 of her own shows as well as going to China to assist on one of our shows there; a true representation of how successful she has been in her role.

She has fitted into the EventShaper Team brilliantly, with her ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to learn.  Happy 1st Anniversary Becky!

Our Spring Season is Finished!

Our New Posters For AEV Member Venues

As part of our ‘Shape It Up’ campaign which aims to find efficiencies and improve working conditions within our industry, we are pleased to announce that the AEV has agreed to push for our new poster to be displayed around their member venues reminding people of their Heath & Safety responsibilities.

These posters are brightly coloured with short, punchy wording with the view of catching people’s attention. The aim is to challenge contractors to consider their own safety.

EDIE.Live/Utility Week Live Starts Today!

We are at the NEC for EDIE.Live and Utility Week Live which runs from the 22nd – 23rd May. These 2 shows are both at the forefront of their industries and showcase new and innovative ideas in the world of utility management and sustainability within business. Packed full of interesting features, we always love seeing how these shows look once up and running. Great to be working with the Faversham House team for the second time this year!

PLASA Focus, Leeds

Our second PLASA show of the year is in Leeds, 1st – 2nd May 2018.

PLASA Leeds is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year, meaning this show is sure to shape up to be something special. With over 135 exhibitor stands showcasing the most cutting edge technology for live entertainment technology in the North East, this show is always a feast of lights and sound!




We’re In Glasgow for Baby & Toddler

It’s Baby & Toddler show time again and we’re at the SEC Glasgow for this one. This is the first time Baby & Toddler have gone to Scotland, making this a launch show for the Ocean Media team and us.

Dani & Becky flew up to Glasgow yesterday in preparation for build up and the show opening on Friday 27th April.

We’re sure the expectant mums, dads and parents of Scotland will love this show as much as those south of the border.

Sign & Digital Starts Tomorrow!

Pamela & Anna are off to the NEC, Birmingham preparing for the opening of Sign & Digital Trade Show which runs from 24th – 26th April. Showcasing the latest innovations in signage, printing, display and decor, this show is always full of new ideas and interesting stands and is the leading show in the UK of its kind. We can’t wait to see it all come together.

We’re in Amsterdam!

A show that really is the ‘show of the moment’! Plastics recycling is an issue that has come to the fore and PRS Europe trade show brings some of the key players throughout Europe in plastic recycling technology all under one roof.

Lucy and Malenka are in Amsterdam for this show, which runs from 24th – 25th April.

Vape Jam’s 4th Year!

We are off to ExCel tomorrow for Vape Jam 4, Europe’s premier Electronic Cigarette and E-Liquid Trade Show. Having been part of it from the beginning we can’t believe where the time has gone and we are now about to oversee the 4th one! We love seeing our clients go from strength to strength.

We’re Off To Shanghai!

We’re all packed and prepared to set off to Shanghai tomorrow for Design Shanghai 2018, Asia’s premier design event, open 14th – 17th March . The show is celebrating it’s 5th year this year and is bigger and better than ever. We are proud to say we have been part of it from the beginning and have seen how Media 10 have grown it into one of the most prestigious international design shows.

And to add to the excitement, it’s Lucy’s and Anna’s first time visiting China!
